Linda Alvina Smith, 86, of Hooker, Oklahoma passed away October 1, 2010 at Baptist St. Anthony Hospice in Amarillo, Texas.
Linda was born January 20, 1924 in Hooker, Oklahoma, the daughter of Robert and Lydia Bollinger Fritzler. She attended Hooker schools.
On June 18, 1945 in Hooker, Oklahoma, Linda was united in marriage to Edner E. Smith. They lived in Hooker all their lives. Edner passed away February 27, 1976.
Linda worked as a waitress at Maxines for many years and later at the 54 Diner. For many years she helped numerous families in Hooker as a caregiver.
She loved to read, any kind of book, crochet, knit and gardening, both her vegetable and flower gardens. She regularly kept scrapbooks for her grandkids and read her Bible and wrote in her diary every day.
Linda was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Hooker and the America Legion Auxiliary where she helped on Saturday night fund raisers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, infant brother, Robert and grandson-in-law, David Mathis.
Survivors include her daughter, Raeleen Childress and her husband Rod of Hooker; granddaughter, Rocheal Mathis of Hooker, grandson, Shawn Childress and his wife Joanna of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; great grand children, Ryan Mathis and his wife Carrie of Hooker, Shayla Mathis of Hooker, Kaleb and Asher Childress of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; great-great-granddaughter, Madelynn Mathis; brothers, Edwin Fritzler of Marianna, Arkansas, and Marvin Fritzler of Guymon, Oklahoma; sister, Helen Hill and her husband Harold of Guymon, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at the Church of the Nazarene in Hooker, Oklahoma with Rev. Roy Berkley officiating. Interment will be in the Hooker Cemetery directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. in Hooker, Oklahoma.
Memorials are suggested to the BSA Hospice and may be left at the Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745 Hooker, Oklahoma 73945.
