Floyd Jasper (Hop) Raff, longtime Hooker resident, passed away on July 6, 2010 at Dunaway Manor in Guymon, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years and 7 days.
The son of Charles and Gladys Woodward Raff, he was born June 29, 1920 in Durham, Oklahoma. He was the seventh of twelve children. After completing 8th grade he quit school and went to work to help support his family.
He was united in marriage to Wilma Dean Stanford on August 17, 1942 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. They made their home in Hooker. He served in the U.S. Army until his discharge in 1943. He worked for Henry Witt, Skip Skillings, his uncle, Dennis Raff, and the railroad before going to work for Tri-County where he worked for 31 years. In 1966 while working for Tri-County he was electrocuted and was in and out of the hospital for 27 months. After returning to Tri-County he continued working until his retirement in 1983.
Hop and Wilma have lived all their married life in Hooker, Oklahoma with the exception of the year, 1945, when Hop worked for his uncle in Beaver.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Charles and Gladys Raff; six brothers, Russell, Lem, Bill, Kenneth, Pat and Pats twin who died shortly after birth; four sisters, Lillie Humphrey, Elmina Dobbs, Annie Norman and Viola Moore; and son-in-law, Lelan Rawlins.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma of the home; daughter, Margaret Reynolds and husband, Bud; daughter, JoAnn Rawlins; grandson, Mike Reynolds of Los Angeles, California; grandson, Charles Rawlins of Hooker, Oklahoma; two great grandchildren, Adan and Erin Rawlins; brother, Mike Raff of Lompoc, California and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2010 at the Church of Christ in Hooker, Oklahoma with Matt Richardson officiating. Interment will be in the Hooker Cemetery in Hooker, Oklahoma directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Inc in Hooker, Oklahoma. Condolences may be left at
