Virgil Dwayne Theiner, 62, of Hooker, Oklahoma, lost his life in an accident on September 7, 2010. A true angel who came upon the accident held his hand and prayed with him as he went to be with the Lord. Dwayne was born October 18, 1947 in Liberal, Kansas to Virgil and Opal Blair Theiner. He was a lifelong resident of Hooker and was a pillar in the community. He was a graduate of Hooker High School and graduated from vo-tech specializing in auto-body repair. He married Karon Hickox on March 29, 1974. She preceded him in death on August 3, 1999. They were married 25 years. Dwayne was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hooker. He was a member of the Hooker city council, a former First Responder, former Fire Chief and volunteer firefighter. Dwayne was heavily involved in many aspects of the community, especially the parks department where he volunteered endless hours of work on projects beautifying the town. He worked as a pumper in the oil and gas field and was employed by XTO Energy until he retired in 2008. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid hunter, an Eagle Scout, and enjoyed his cars and cabin in Eagle Nest, New Mexico. Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Catherine Anderson. Survivors include his son Brock and wife Connie of Hooker, grandson Blaine Hunt and soon to be granddaughter, all of Hooker. A daughter, Misty Lynch and husband John of Hooker, granddaughter Tawny and her fianc Blake Davis, and grandsons Hunter Mills, Lakon Lynch, and Lawson Lynch and soon to be great grandchild, all of Hooker. His big sister, Betty Weaver and husband Robert of Fort Collins, Colorado along with nephew Greg Starr and Cindy of Guymon, nephew Andy Starr and Tina of Cheyenne, Wyoming, nephew Nathan Starr and Rita of Bend, Oregon, nephews Roy Anderson of Buhler, Kansas, and Kyle Anderson and Kathy of Haysville, Kansas. He is also survived by a special friend, Sue Stanley, of Gate, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 10, 2010 at the New High School Gymnasium in Hooker, Oklahoma with Bro. Jim Roebuck officiating. Interment will be in the Hooker Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Raab officiating directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma. Memorials are suggested for the Hooker Parks and may be left at the Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Oklahoma 73945.
