Alan Clark Hedrick
March 15, 1933 ~ October 22, 2010 (age 77) 77 Years Old
Alan C. Hedrick, 77, of Hooker, Oklahoma passed away October 22, 2010 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas. Alan was born March 15, 1933 in Cherokee, Oklahoma, the son of V.T. and Neita Ewing Hedrick. As a young boy the family moved to California and later back to Woodward, Oklahoma where graduated high school with the Class of 1952. After graduation he worked in the Oil Field. On June 2, 1953 at Ft. Hood, Texas he was united in marriage to Patsy Burnett. Alan entered the U.S. Army where he served in Germany. He returned Childress, Texas and Alan and Patsy began their home together. Alan attended Telegraph School, and then began working for the railroad for three years, and then they moved to Conway Springs, Kansas for one year. They lived in Lewis, Kansas and then to Woodward, Oklahoma where he ran Lindsey Water Softener Co. for a number of years. They moved to Ellinwood, Kansas, living there until 1972 when they moved to Texhoma, Oklahoma. Alan worked for Empire Construction in Stratford, Texas as a welder. He worked for Southern Union Gas until 1984 and was transferred to Hooker, Oklahoma and retired in 1995. He has worked for Earth Tech for many years up until his death. Alan was a Ham Radio operator since his military days and could do anything electronic. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, John and two grandchildren, Chad and Carman. Survivors include his wife Patsy of the home; seven sons, Joseph and his wife Michelle of Tyrone, Oklahoma, Terry and his wife Dessie of Hugoton, Kansas, Tim and his wife Parish of Hooker, Oklahoma, Steve and his wife Deanna of Hooker, Oklahoma, Scott and his wife Kelli of Turpin, Oklahoma, Sam and his wife Trish of Bethany, Oklahoma, Kelly of Liberal, Kansas; two daughters, Alana Smalts and her husband Kam of Hooker, Oklahoma, Laurie Hedrick of Hooker, Oklahoma; eighteen grand children and seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Bryce Hedrick and his wife Mary Lou of Pretty Prairie, Kansas, Larry Hedrick of Apache Junction, Arizona. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the Etna Cemetery near Geary, Oklahoma with Pastor Todd Tamara of Council Road Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma officiating. Services are directed by the Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. in Hooker, Oklahoma.
